Embedded bank accounts are now available in beta
Introducing a new type of bank account
We’ve introduced a new type of bank account: embedded bank accounts!
Our embedded bank accounts are all-purpose. They can be added into your app to introduce new banking features, or they can be embedded into your workflow for operational purposes like automating reconciliation and enabling simplified payments operations.
Key features of embedded bank accounts:
Unique account number and sort code
FSCS protection up to £85,000 per customer.
Interest-bearing
Why have we done it?
We've added this new account type to offer more flexibility to our customers and solve some of the pain points they experience when using virtual account products. These accounts are also useful for companies who want to give their customers bank accounts for operational purposes or to hold funds with instant access.
How can I open embedded bank accounts?
You can open an embedded bank account in our sandbox via our API or app.
To open an account using the app:
Navigate to the Customers section in the sandbox
Go to Accounts and select Embedded
Click 'Open' and provide the customer details
To open an account using our API, refer to our account opening guide.

How will this affect existing integrations?
If you're already working with Griffin, don't worry, this new account type won't impact your existing integrations.
