Accounts can now be checked through Confirmation of Payee

What’s changed?

Confirmation of Payee (CoP) is a name checking service that helps reduce misdirected payments and provides greater assurances that payments are being sent to the intended account holder.

Earlier this year, we enabled the checking of names on Griffin accounts through Confirmation of Payee.

With this new release, a payee set up via the Griffin app or the API can now be checked through CoP.

Once the name on the account has been checked, one of the results below will be shown within our app or through our API:

• The name and account type match the account

• The name provided is a close match to the name on the account, or the account type is incorrect, or both

• The name provided doesn’t match the name on the account

• It has not been possible to check the name on the account

Why have we done it?

Confirmation of Payee provides greater assurance that the correct account is being paid and helps to reduce fraud.

How does it affect your existing integration?

This won’t affect your existing integration. If you do want to utilise our API solution reach out to your customer success manager for more information.
